Just wanted to encourage everyone to come out tomorrow night for our kickoff event – details are below. People should be in a great mood – it was a heck of a night for Democrats last night! With victories here in STL such as Jane Bogetto’s stunning upset in the 94the state legislative district and success nationally such as victories by Tim Kaine and Jon Corzine for the governorships of Virginia and New Jersey, respectively, Democrats everywhere are buoyant.

Let’s raise our glasses Thursday evening and toast the success – it’s been too rare the last few years. Hopefully these wins will be akin to the Republican sweep in the 1993 off-year elections: a harbinger of things to come… perhaps a Democratic takeover of one or both houses of Congress and the Missouri Legislature!

Jeff Smith, the political science professor who almost became a congressman, is launching his bid for the state Senate on Thursday at The Royale.

Join us at the fabulous Royale this Thursday, 5:30 to 7pm, as we welcome Jeff back to St. Louis, celebrate the changing of the seasons, and raise some funds for the upcoming campaign.
